Imperial von Boorian has been brewed...

Today we brewed the first batch of Imperial von Boorian, a strong-ish Pale Ale fermented with Belgian ale yeast and hopped like an American Double IPA.

When we left the brewery today the tank was already fermenting, a good sign indeed!

Hop varieties include Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo, and Simcoe.
Specs: OG = 16.8P; IBU = 78; Color = 8.0 SRM

Burien Beer Stimulus Package

The time has come for bold and decisive action! Our crack team of economic advisors (and two brewers) proudly announce the Elliott Bay Brewhouse "Beer Stimulus Package."

Our plan includes a unique, non-partisan, three-pronged approach:

(1) Double Happy Hour 7 days a week: 3:00-6:00 and 10:00-close
(2) Half Price Growlers of house-brewed beer each Tuesday
(3) Hand-crafted ORGANIC beer goodness in each and every glass.

Wit Beer in the Works

Our next seasonal beer coming out of the W. Seattle pub will be a Belgian-style Wit. Spiced w/ coriander seeds and flavored with chamomile flowers and Seville oranges from the Trappist monks at Spencer Abbey, this unfiltered wheat beer has a moderately zesty, citrusy frutiness to pair with its pale straw color.

The recipe includes flaked wheat and oats, both of which lend a smoothness and light creaminess to this cloudy, refreshing springtime ale.

Look for it to arrive on tap in both pubs in late April.

Serving at BOTH locations: St. Patty’s Day Melt, Corned Beef and Cabbage, No Doubt Chocolate Stout Cupcakes, Kid’s Irish Pesto Pasta, Green Pilot Light, Irish Red Lager, Guinness, and Irish Mist.

WS only: No Doubt Beef and Mushroom Stew
Burien only: Blackened Salmon Spinach Avocado Salad, Shepherd’s Pie, Corned Beef Hash Quesadilla
.

Helles Lager Coming Soon!

The Helles [hell-us] is brewed! This most typical of Bavarian "session" lagers will grace the taps of both Elliott Bay pubs in the next week or so.

Especially in the summer, rivers of Helles are still served as a quaffing brew in liter-size glass mugs in beer halls and beer gardens all over Bavaria.
When brewed to perfection, a Helles rewards the drinker with the most sublime balance of subtle, rich, elegant maltiness and lingering hoppiness.

This recipe was brewed in West Seattle as the last in our recent series of lager-style beers. PROST!
